NORA LUPI

NORA LUPI
YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND TOMORROW, TOO
2013
4:33

The majority of my day is either spent being with my son or wishing I were.  “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow, Too” focuses on Trenton as the center of my everyday. As a single mom and college student, I have to come up with non-traditional solutions to problems that most of my peers don’t face.  I aimed to reflect this non-traditional approach to life by recording songs I sing for Trenton while I handle everyday responsibilities, like changing his diapers or giving him a bath.

I also included repetitive everyday noises made by Trenton as emphatic notes in the background to accentuate the monotonous actions of parenthood without casting them in a negative light.  The video intentionally uses footage from various stages of Trenton’s life in no chronological order as a way to represent the blur of the first few years of childhood when everyday feels the same as the next—and yet somehow the baby in the video is drastically different from the boy.

To make this project, I used iPhone video footage, a Zoom Digital Recorder, GarageBand, and iMovie.
